Former Pontins Site-Beach Road, Hemsby

The Site

The former Pontins Holiday Centre is located within the centre of Hemsby, to the east of Kings Way and south of Beach Road. It is located on the boundary between the tourist and residential areas of the village.

The site is approximately 8.85 hectares in size and comprises the remnants of the former holiday centre. This includes a mixture of 1 and 2 storey holiday chalets, various entertainment / leisure buildings, car parking and overgrown green space.

There are a number of trees both within the site and along the site boundaries, together with a continuous tall hedgerow along the entire eastern site boundary. The current access is off Beach Road.

Overall the site has a dated architectural style and layout and it suffers from dilapidation, having been vacant for over 9 years. A number of windows have been boarded up due to problems with burglaries and criminal damage.

The landowner is now exploring the options for positive re development of the site.

The Masterplan

The draft masterplan shows an initial layout which has been developed thus far taking on board comments and views offered by the Borough, the Parish and the residents of Hemsby.

The aim is to create an attractive mixed use development in the heart of Hemsby and to the benefit of the community.

This may include the following:

  • 5 acre caravan site with approximately 50 static caravans.
  • Housing site with approximately 190 new high quality family homes and affordable housing.
  • Public open space.
  • Potential area for new retail store and shop units.
  • Potential conversion of chalets into residential.
