We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic senior planner, or above, for our expanding practice.

The role has arisen due to our increasing workload and expanding client base. This is a senior appointment and the successful candidate will not only play a key part in delivering the teams’ existing work requirements, but will also be expected to help grow the practice by winning new business and securing client relationships.

We provide advice and services on all aspects of planning & development. Our clients range from major development and regeneration companies to individual members of the public and we are involved in a wide variety of projects across the North West of England and the UK. We are currently involved in a significant amount of residential-led developments and thus some planning experience working on housing schemes is desirable, although the practice works across all sectors including retail / commercial, leisure, industrial, energy & waste, education / care, equestrian and agriculture.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Conducting research and site development appraisals;
• Promoting development land and client interests through representations to Development Plans;
• Preparation, submission and management of a variety of different types of applications and appeals, including the briefing and co-ordination of project teams comprising external consultants;
• Preparation of a variety of types of statements in support of applications and appeals;
• Undertaking community consultation exercises;
• Developing client relationships;
• Further raising the teams profile and Business DevelopmentIt is essential that candidates:
• Are MRTPI qualified;
• Have experience in writing reports and advising clients on planning and related development matters, based on a solid planning knowledge and understanding of relevant planning law, planning policy and principles; and/or have demonstrable aptitude to gain these quickly in new areas of work;
• Have good planning experience including progressing planning applications and appeals, preferably including residential schemes.
• Can undertake quantitative and sequential assessments;
• Are committed and have an eye for detail;
• Used to working with minimal supervision and using their own initiative;
• Are personable and have a strong team capability;
• Have excellent organisational and project management skills;
• Have strong communication skills, both written and oral;
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car

Additional desirable attributes would be:
• Consultancy experience
• An established client base with potential to develop new business leads
• An interest in business development and networking opportunities
