Alexis is a Chartered Town Planner who started his career in local authority planning departments at the States of Jersey and at Sefton Borough Council, becoming an elected member of The Royal Town Planning Institute in 1999. He joined De Pol Associates in 2000 and became a Director of the Company in 2013, before becoming Managing Director in 2015.
With over 17 years professional experience Alexis has dealt with planning matters across a wide range of sectors, including residential schemes, commercial / industrial developments, equestrian, leisure and rural projects, together with large mixed use projects. These include Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) developments such as the redevelopment of a disused Shropshire sugar beet factory into a new village with 470 houses, primary school, business hub, health centre, retail space and sports facilities; and Listed building / conservation area projects such as the award winning Macclesfield District Hospital redevelopment, which included the conversion of a Grade II listed clock tower for key worker apartments and the erection of a four storey office block, a retail store with apartments above, sheltered retirement apartments, a care home, market housing and a hospital car parking deck.
Alexis specialises in complex planning matters and large scale development projects. He has broad experience as a lead consultant and expert planning witness in both appeal hearings and public inquiries, including securing the award of costs against Councils of up to £100,000. Alexis has also assisted in High Court challenges relating to planning appeal decisions, as well as acting on behalf of clients at Local Plan EIP Hearings.
